Saturday

patches
As I lay on my bed
I remember all the pain
I feel numb
its hard to breathe
as if my body is being pressed tightly
suffocating me

I release my fury, this heartache
through my eyes
they came rushing down my cheeks
they are warm
they give my eyes that sparkle
reflecting my feelings, my soul
now my pillow is full of dark patches

when will it stop
can i make it stop
I want it to stop!
please Lord
for it pains me more
by the minute
this river on my cheeks
it blurs my vision
I wish it would end

is it always like this
is love like this
you give
but what do you get in return?
yes, there is love
also, there's
pain

I have experienced this before
and it wasn't easy
now, its locked
down down down
in the farthest chambers
of my heart

but is a second time
worth it
is it worth these patches
big dark patches

will history repeat itself?
i hope not

if its love,
something so pure and true
well
I guess its worth it
afterall :'[

when everything fails
the scene: our math prof entering the room carrying a handfull of bluebooks.

its the moment of truth! although i already have a feeling on how i did on my first ever exam in math 11, i still felt something creepy. as if something is inside me. very strange feeling.

so she starts calling us one by one, handing us our bluebooks. she announces the two who got the highest scores. and i just can't help but think, "damn, how can they be so good!"

my name was called. as expected i failed. passing score, 60 pecent. my score, 57 percent. argh... just a little more and i could have made it. but i guess, fortuna just wasn't on my side.

but no hearctaches and the like. it wasn't new to me at all. i am used in failing my math exams way back when i was in high school. so, no big deal. but i guess, the situation now is different.

well, i dont want the same thing to happen again. i have dreams you know. getting a certificate at the end of every semester for being a college scholar. well as i have said that is my dream. and yes, sad but true, sometimes dreams don't come true.

i wonder, will luck be on my side this time?

crappy thinkpiece 2

my second thinkpiece for my social science 2 class. feel ko ipost vakwet ba?!

The Legacy of the Greeks

Ancient Greece has a very rich history. It has helped in shaping the world to what it is today. Many of the things around us depict the wonderful culture of this prestigious and respected country, reminding us of how life was like way back then. That is also why Athens is considered the pinnacle of human civilization.

The Greeks have bequeathed to us so many legacies which became the foundations of our modern way of living. From their art, to their ideologies, and even to their form of government, everything is still evident up to now.

Just looking around the metro, we can still see some edifices having that Greek style in architecture, with all the columns and capitals. Examples of this are the Post Office and Court of Appeals and the National Museum. Even in Greece itself, ruins of those once huge buildings and shrines still remain.

Their love for theatre and the arts also influenced many of us. Most of their documents were written in poetic forms. They introduced drama, comedy and tragedy. Known examples of these are the “Iliad” and the “Odyssey” which until now are being studied and read by people all around the world. Also, we have acquired how people during their times were seated when they had dramas and plays. Even the shape of our theatres today resembles theirs wherein everyone can clearly see and hear the performers.

The Greek mythology has also been passed down to every generation. These stories became inspirations for some writers, artists and sculptors in doing their art. Even film makers used the concept of gods and goddesses in their movies. In addition, the names of some constellations, and even that of humans, were derived from Greek mythology.

Another legacy of Greece is the Olympic Games. To them, sport was the overall education of oneself to have a harmonious balance in their mental, physical and intellectual aspects. Winners in the said competition were treated as heroes. Up to now, this event is still put into practice and is competed by various countries once every four years.

Many Greek philosophers discovered many facts which still hold true today. Theorems in Mathematics like that of Pythagoras and Thales became foundations in the field. Also, the idea that doctors do what’s best for the patients is still believed today. Doctors also have to take the Hippocratic Oath (from Hippocrates). The Greek’s curiosity paved way to the discovery of many things essential to our lives.

The Greeks could also be considered the first politicians. When it comes to governance, their legacy is Democracy, which is used up to now by many countries including ours. This legacy was exercised by the Athenians in their assemblies and councils. The works of great political thinkers like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle are still of importance today.

Because of the Greek’s love for wisdom and knowledge, order in their city-states and rich culture, they have helped mold the world’s perspective on things and culture as well. Their antiquity made them be remembered and idolized by many for a long time.

CW 10

the following are my works for my creative writing 10 class. well i discovered how easy it is to make a poem. hehehe... it doesn't have to be all so rhyming or perfect. hehehe... as long as i can pass something. =']

*the first poem is an exercise where we have to animate/personify or say something about a household object.

Mirror

In the darkness of my room
it shines
reflecting the moonlight

As I stand in front of it
I see
the very best of me

Through the years it has been
my best critic
a friend when I’m in need

A witness to all my dreams
and misfortunes

Standing in front of it
I used to do;
reciting all the poems
humming all the tunes

My reflection
it shows
the changing of the times
the beauty that’s around
me.

*this one is an exercise where we re-tell a story/myth/folklore through a poem and using another character's point of view.

No turning back

“Who’s your father? Can’t you say?
Where’s your father? Gone away?”

They haunt me,
these words;
voices of silly children
chanting it in chorus;
it pains me.

Ha! Who are they to say those things
crazy common people!
They who will be stuck in Tongabatu,
live like our ancestors and
die in vain.

But I,
Tau, the son of the Sun
will have glory!
the glory I long destined to have
the prize of being me

That night Aunt Luna,
the moon,
offered me glory along with brotherhood.
But nah! brotherhood?
who needs it?

Father said I should choose it,
brotherhood,
for it will do me good.
I was destined for great things, he says,
be the chief of Tongabatu.

I am not stupid you know
to stay in that place.
I despise them all
crazy common people!
they who always mock me.

But father was right
I should have listened.
But its too late
what’s done is done
I can never go back

Poor mother
if only I knew
that all the glory
would harm me
now here I am

alone

dead.

*next is my poem for the workshop. this will be revised soon. after my prof and classmates have given their comments

Rainy days remind me of you

Its that time of the year
when the roads get washed
the clouds reign over the sun
and the leaves shower me with care.

Its that time of the year
and I miss it
Now I am lonely
alone and reminiscing.

As I go around the house
I remember you,
everything

I imagine you on the couch
head on my lap
the two of us watching
all those movies ‘til dawn

You want more coffee?
I’d ask
and I will fill your cup
the aroma binds us together

I’d remember Seth come to you
and lick your face
We were so happy back then
so happy and carefree

Just like the roads
the two of us were washed along
separated from one another
forever.

acads and me
its soooo unfair. how can they do this to me. hehehe... well my math exam was last saturday, july 16. and holy shit its super hard. as in. well actually i dunno, i do get along with class discussions and i can answer the sample exam, but why on earth would the test be so out of this world. like, hello, its way beyond the lessons. or i think so. hehehe... nyway it was one hell of a headache. i wanna jump from the third floor after that f* exam. but of course, another beautiful creature would be gone in this world so i changed my mind.

i am sure i will fail. and its not something to take seriously. well in hs it would be a miracle if i'd pass an exam. so i guess that goes for college too. im used to getting very as in very low scores. nothing to be shocked or whatever. hehehe...

well more on my academic standing. my prof in eng 10 gave us back our mini paper 2. and yes, as expected it was bloody red! hehehe... well thats normal, all of our papers had red marks, not just red marks, bloody red marks. and i got 2.75, well not bad, for its mah first paper so wathdya expect. but the good thing was it wasn't recorded. hehehe... my prof commented, "if the purpose is to confuse the readers, you succeeded" hehehe...

we are goin to have our field trip in kas. nyahaha... i thought no more crappy field trips in college, well i was wrong! the girl from the lakbay aral thing, the organizers, wrote on the board: places to visits... hehehe... and we all laughed. well of course only to ourserlves. or else our prof could have killed us. hehehe... actually she first wrote places to visit, but i dunno why she added 's' to visit. maybe because there are a lot of place to visit so 'visit' should be plural too. hahaha...

okay enough of that. lets forgive her for her mistake. hahaha... were gonna have our poetry rerading in creativ writing 10 after the worskshops. and i am part of the committee who will organize everything. syempre bonding moment un with my classmates, besides my additional grade. and lemme tell yeah, i really need that add points for i think i'll fail my CW. hehehe...

what else?! oh my favorite subject, modern jazz. well we've started with our choreography for the dance presentation at the end oif the semester. all the dance classes would be performing sa gym. i can't get the jazz walk, its really confusing. but anyway, the class is really fun.

last but not the least, my socsci. hehehe... also one of my favorites. but no interesting happenings. just the usual class discussions and chat with my seatmates. im really friendly u know. hehe.. =')

UAAP Mania
lumipas na ang panahon ng tagtuyot. ngayon ako'y nagbalik.

echos! ang chummy. oh well i really missed my blogs. its been weeks. i have so many things to impart to you guys but because i am too damn busy with school, i can't. and now, because all of the things i was suppose to share happened like decades ago, i forgot all about them. well fo course not all. but still i forgot already. that's what peyups will give you. burden kung burden ateh!

okay what important things had happened? hmm... lemme think. hmmm... UAAP i guess. well that opening ceremony and first win for UP really put my voice box to the limits. hehehe... honestly i wasn't really expecting those hobbits (hehehe... bad lucha, very bad!) to win. coz the "golden" tigers were hella good. they're like gazilllion points ahead. and if ur also there. ud just prefer to stop cheering and just watch as ur team gets beaten by the f* tigers. but what dya know! with that three point shot from i dunno who the hell he is, Maroons back in the game baby!

And who would have thought that in peyups would actually lead the first half of the season. well thats as of now. with 3-0. wouldya look at that. they even beat those archers and bulldogs. hahaha!!!

as much as i want to also watch the games with ronelsky, ses and mark, i can't. well how many times should i tell yah guys im too damn busy. i can't even powder mah face nor comb mah hair. well of course there are still times which i do. but nevertheless, i dont have time to pamper myself. you could ask the other peyups people if how i look like these days. know the stresstabs commercial? i should be there you know! always ngarag!

Saturday

lucha and friends
oh well things have gone to the usual stuff. i really enjoyed the rookie camp last wednesday for thousands (well just exagerating!) of things have happened.

although only four of us did the check-out-those-booths, well its okay. well ses was nowhere to be found (although they said she dropped by in the morning), jack and jeff had their exam and the other final ten... unknown!

together with ron, aid and new friend luigi (aid's blockhead) we went to the inflatables and acted like we were once again kids. well actually if you were there, you'd really act as if you are one. well unless your to coward to do so.

around 3 pm we (block K3 --> the beautiful and talented CommRes people) were scheduled to have our block pic taken. well of course the color of the day is yellow or orange. too bad i wasn't able to change my shirt coz i dont have time to do so.

well before our pictorial (naks! ibang level) some of my blockmates were interviewd by GMA kapuso regarding their views on Gloria's answer to the anomalous cd.

then just before we had the pic taken, baj and cate went to the dedication booth and so the whole block was also invited to follow. were like crazy shouting UP ROCKS and K3... hehehe... well it was one hell of an experience though.

we had our pic taken at last. although we werent complete its okay. im so excited on how the pic looks like. and also if im not dreaming in the pic... hehehe...

after all the euphoria last wednesday, its thursday once more, back to basics. i really enjoyed the culture literacy test in our Eng 10. just a bit frustrated coz i forgot were the simpsons live. argh...

kas 1... the usual sit there the whole hour, review the minutes of the previous meeting prepared by your classmate, raise your hand when your name is called when your prof checks the attendance, chat with your seatmate if youre bored and listen to the long story of your prof which is actually way way unrelated to your lesson. ohh when will we have a normal class discussion...

yay! its math. no im not happy because of the subject but because i get to meet my block. yay! and of course our ever dearestprof. mama mila. actually we decided to make this coming monday the "skirt day" just like our prof, but i dunno if any one will do it.

after all the fun in math, its time to watch Basilio and Friends. the show starts around seven so we (jack and i) had to walk and walk and walk just to make use time.

the auditorium was a little cold and of all things, im wearing a sleeveless top. good thing we were seated a bit at the side so the temperatures just ok. oh yeah we were seated next to my other modern jazz classmates reg and jamie.

we didn't finish the whole musical and went home during the break, that was around 9 pm. good thing we made it to MRT's last trip which was around 9:37 pm. that day was really exhausting... sleep.. sleep... sleep...

the next day i dont have pe class because of the musical so i went to school around 11. i was again freazing in my soc sci 2 class for we had our class at the FC AVR and again im wearing sleeveless. but its okay. during my CW10 we had a lot of fun discussing a poem which we tought at first to be about cars but it turned out that it was really all about having sex. no kidding!

friday was also the Freshteeg concert. and as always i didn't come. hehehe... aa, wilson, cesar and beklas pha were also there to watch the concert with jack, ron, lop, jeff, mark and pre. as much as i want to come, well i know my dad wont allow me so why bother asking if i could.

oh well that raps up the latter part of my week. i have so many things to tell but i guess ill just keep it private. nyahaha!!!
